SHANGHAI -- Overseas institutions decreased their holdings of Chinese interbank bonds, said a report released by the People's Bank of China Shanghai Head Office.

By the end of April, bonds in China's interbank market held by overseas institutions stood at 3.77 trillion yuan ($558.52 billion), 3.2 percent of the total custody of the country's interbank bond market, the report said.

The figure was lower than the 3.88 trillion yuan registered at the end of March.

In April, two new overseas institutional investors entered China's interbank bond market, bringing the total number to 1,035 by the end of last month, the report showed.
