Italian pair win mixed duet technical, Chinese grab bronze in artistic swimming
BUDAPEST -- Italian pair Giorgio Minisini and Lucrezia Ruggiero claimed victory in the mixed duet technical of artistic swimming with 89.2685 points (execution 27.3000, impression 27.1000, elements 34.8685) at the 19th FINA World Championships here on Monday.
Tomoka Sato and Yotaro Sato of Japan grabbed the silver medal with 86.5939 points (execution 26.4000, impression 26.6000, elements 33.5939), and China's Shi Haoyu and Zhang Yiyao finished third with 86.4425 points (execution 26.2000, impression 26.3000, elements 33.9425).
The Chinese pair brought their country its first-ever mixed artistic swimming medal in the world championships.
China pocketed its first gold at the Budapest worlds following Wang Liuyi and Wang Qiannyi's victory in the women's technical duet on Sunday.
Tuesday will see the team technical final and preliminaries for the duet free group A and B.
