Three men were recognized as "Good Samaritans" for saving the lives of three drowning children in Beijing on Sunday, the capital's Shijingshan district announced on Wednesday.
The three men — Zhou Hongbo, Li Pu and Zhou Siwei — heard three children shouting for help and saw them struggling in the waters of a lake near the Yongding River in western Beijing's Shijingshan district at around 2 pm on Sunday.
The three children had been playing near the water.
According to the announcement, many people participated in saving the kids.
Zhou Hongbo, 32, and the father of a 1-year-old boy, leaped in to save the children, but drowned afterwards. A rescue team found his body after a four-hour search.
