A top official in Tangshan, North China's Hebei province, demanded that regular patrols at residential communities should be strengthened and video surveillance should leave no blind corners in public areas.

"We should do our utmost to ensure the safety of people's lives and property," Wu Weidong, the city's Party Secretary, said at a meeting held on Wednesday at a residential community in Kaiping district.

He made an inspection visit to the district on Wednesday morning for strengthening the public security of communities.

After an assault case where four women were beaten by a group of men at a local restaurant on June 10, the city has taken series of measures to stop similar criminal acts from happening again to improve the public order.
