About 50 black-winged stilts were photographed in a scenic zone in Yulin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
"It is the first time I've seen this kind of bird," said Wang Zi, a member of the China Photographers Association who likes to take pictures of birds in his spare time.
The stilts are sometimes called "brides with long limbs" because of their 30-cm red legs. Besides the legs, they are covered in white but with two black wings and a beak that is slim and long, Wang said.
It is rare to see black-winged stilts in Yulin. That they showed up is evidence of progress in the city's ecological environment.
