High-level intelligent and sustainable local production

The all-new EQE was the four-millionth Mercedes-Benz vehicle produced in China at the Sino-German joint venture between Mercedes-Benz Group and BAIC Group, Beijing Benz Automotive Co.

Today, BBAC is already the biggest production site for Mercedes-Benz with a localized lineup of 11 passenger car models, including four all-electric vehicles. Alongside the portfolio expansion, BBAC is also setting the benchmark in intelligent and sustainable production.

For instance, the digital ecosystem called Mercedes-Benz Cars Operations 360 brings high transparency to manufacturing by linking hardware devices in the cloud, where BBAC workers can check the production status and data at any time through mobile devices.

The Production Flow Management system used in the workshops at BBAC can schedule production swiftly according to customer orders and smoothly switch production between NEVs and fuel vehicles.

In China, BBAC is well on track towards achieving carbon-neutral production. In 2021, BBAC became one of the first companies to purchase green electricity in Beijing with the aim to increase the usage of clean energy.

Meanwhile, the plant has also increased the proportion of self-produced green energy. The total area of photovoltaic power generation at BBAC reaches nearly 220,000 square meters, with a total annual power generation of up to 38 million kWh.

By deploying green logistics and using recycled packaging, BBAC is expected to save paper equivalent to 1.3 million trees in 2022, equaling the area of five Beijing Olympic Parks.
