Farmers in Xinzhuangbu township in the Yongnian district of Handan, Hebei province, have been busy recently harvesting chile peppers, which cover the land in a red blanket.
About 2 hectares of chiles in the district are now ready to harvest, with each hectare yielding around 22.5 tons, according to local government.
For the harvest season, from mid October to early November, more than 400 local farmers will be employed to pick the chiles. They can earn about 27,000 yuan ($3,734) for the harvest, the local government said.
