Adi Wirawan Tjahjono, a Chinese Indonesian, has been living in China for 12 years since 2008. He works as a foreign teacher at the Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

“Every time, especially during the pandemic, a lot of my friends and relatives back in Indonesia ask me, why are you still in China? Aren’t you afraid of the current condition? I always reply that I believe in what I have experienced and learned here in China. I study Chinese traditional medicine, and I firmly believe that China has the ability to tackle the current situation. The reason why I love Sichuan is the connection among people and the landscape. The people here could be as relaxed as panda and also be as fast as dragon depending on the situation. This could describe the concept of humanism in China, which has a sense of multilateralism and means that everyone has their own special place. I am building my own Chinese dream in my motherland.”
