An orchard in Boye county of Baoding, Hebei province, has yielded a good harvest of haws in recent days. The red berries come from hawthorn trees on 6.7 hectares.

In Dabeihe village, farmers have been busy picking the haws and sorting them before packing them into boxes for sale.

"The village's sandy soil is very suitable for planting hawthorns," said Huang Xinqi, the orchard's owner, adding that 1 hectare can yield about 45,000 kilograms of haws.
