Radar, a new energy vehicle arm of Chinese conglomerate Geely, launched an electric pickup on Wednesday.

The model, called the RD6, is built based on China's first dedicated platform for electric pickups.

Available in four variants, it has a maximum output of 200 kW. It has a driving range of 632 km and can accelerate from zero to 100 km in 6.9 seconds.

Unlike conventional pickups, the RD6 has a comfortable cabin as sedans. It has two 12.3-inch displays and a 9-inch head-up display. It is capable of voice command and over-the-air updates.

Also, its styling was the work of Geely's design teams in the United Kingdom. The pickup truck can be used as a power bank for electric devices, making it easier for nature lovers to enjoy outdoor time.

The electric pickup market remains underdeveloped in China but the prospects are bright as camping is gaining in popularity in the country.

Statistics from iiMedia Group show that the revenue of camping sites soared from 7.71 billion yuan ($1.15 billion) in 2014 to 29.9 billion yuan in 2021.

Ling Shiquan, CEO of Radar, said Radar focuses on technology but also man and nature as an diversified outdoor lifestyle brand.

Following the RD6, Radar said it will launch electric pickups of larger sizes as well as electric all-terrain vehicles.
