Zhejiang claims 13th consecutive win in CBA
ZHUJI, China - Zhejiang Golden Bulls extended their winning streak to 13 games in the 2022-2023 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) season with a 101-94 victory over the Beijing Ducks here on Thursday.
Lu Wenbo hit two 3-pointers as Zhejiang built a 21-16 lead in the first quarter. Beijing opened the second quarter strongly and managed to tie the game at 31-31. But Zhejiang soon answered with a 7-2 run and was 47-44 ahead at halftime.
Zhejiang expanded its advantage to eight points by the end of the third quarter and held the nerves to win eventually.
Jarmar Gulley notched up a game-high 33 points, while Lu and Wu Qian added 18 and 11 points respectively. Fan Ziming scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead five Beijing players in double-digit scoring.
Zhengjiang is the sole undefeated team so far in the 2022-2023 CBA season.
In the other game on Thursday, the Nanjing Monkey Kings ended their three-game losing streak in the second phase of this season after beating the Tianjin Pioneers 111-103.
Tianjin once led 28-25 in the first quarter, but with an 11-3 run, Nanjing jumped 59-54 in front before halftime. After the interval, Nanjing built a 14-point advantage into the final quarter and never looked back.
