Chinese tech company Oppo unveiled its latest flagship foldable smartphone N2 series, in its latest push to expand its presence in the burgeoning foldables segment despite an overall market decline.

The Find N2 is a foldable phone turbo-charged with iconic Hasselblad capabilities on a mighty camera set up, boosted by its self-developed imaging chip MariSilicon X.

When it comes to the Find N2 Flip, it is Oppo's first clamshell-style flip phone, which will help the Chinese company compete with Samsung's Z Flip foldable smartphone in the global market.

The Find N2 Flip weighs a mere 191 grams, and it's much slimmer than its rivals. It has a 3.26-inch exterior display, which is the largest of any flip phone to date, Oppo said.

Global foldable smartphone shipments will likely grow 73 percent year-on-year to 16 million units this year from 9 million units in 2021, and the figure is projected to rise to 26 million units in 2023, according to a report from market research company Counterpoint Research.

Foldable smartphones are still the fastest-growing smartphone product category this year, and the strong growth defies current economic headwinds as the high-end phone market shows resilience and a steady demand, said the report.
