In Hebei, plumb blossom boxing in spotlight

More than 300 martial arts enthusiasts gathered in Xiwangzhuang village in Wuqiang county, Hebei province, on Wednesday to show their plum-blossom boxing skills — a traditional Chinese form.

The village, whose boxing history stretches back more than a century, holds the event annually on the 11st day on the Chinese lunar new year. Participants worship ancestors and present a performance platform for boxing enthusiasts.

During this year's event, attendees age 8 to 70 took turns hopping onto the stage and practicing with different kinds of traditional Chinese weapons.
