HOHHOT - North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region plans to build 8,000 charging piles for new energy vehicles (NEV) this year, local authorities said Tuesday.

According to a five-year plan (2021-2025) on speeding up the construction of charging infrastructure, the region will continue to strengthen the construction of NEV charging infrastructure in cities.

To date, more than 8,200 public charging piles have been built and put into use across the region.

By the end of 2022, Inner Mongolia had around 56,000 NEVs (excluding city buses). The number of NEVs in Hohhot, capital city of the region, reached 14,500.
