Chinese carmaker Geely Auto launched a high-end electrified product series on Thursday to stay competitive in the country's fierce NEV market.
Geely Auto said it will launch seven plug-in hybrids and electric models in two years under the new series called Galaxy, with three of them to hit the market this year.
Models in the Galaxy range are positioned lower than those of Zeekr, a premium brand of Geely Auto's parent company Geely Holding Group.
The company also unveiled advanced electrified technologies on Thursday, including a battery safety system, hybrid powertrains, and a smart vehicle operating system called Galaxy N-OS.
The new operating system was developed in line with Smart Geely 2025 strategy under which the company is focusing heavily on self-developed chips, operating systems, intelligent cloud computing, and satellite networks to secure the future of the brand.
With the help of Geely Holding Group, Galaxy vehicles have access to precision positioning and high-precision maps to assist in intelligent driving functionality.
By 2025, Geely Holding Group will have a network of 72 satellites, providing global coverage for Galaxy models, said the carmaker.
Geely Auto sold 1.43 million vehicles in 2022, up 8 percent year-on-year. Of them, NEV sales stood at around 300,000 units. The carmaker expects its total sales to grow to 1.65 million units this year.
