Large group of yellow sheep spotted in grassland

In recent days, more than 3,000 wild yellow sheep, or Mongolian gazelles (Procapra gutturosa), were spotted at a nature reserve in Xin Barga Right Banner of Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

It was the largest flock of wild yellow sheep to be found in the area in recent years, local authorities said.

As the golden grass ripples in the breeze, the sheep sometimes lower their heads for food but remain alert to observe their surroundings. If they sense danger, they bolt swiftly away.

Because it lies along a migration route for wild animals, Hulunbuir has strengthened its ecological protection efforts in recent years to improve the grassland ecology and help increase the number of migrating animals.

Every winter, a large number of yellow sheep come to forage in the area. They typically leave in late spring.
