Lintao county boasts rich cultural resources, including the Majiayao culture and the site of the western beginning of the Great Wall during Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC), Yin said.

Majiayao culture came into being in the Late Neolithic period more than 5,000 years ago. The site was discovered in the 1920s in the village of Majiayao. The area was designated as a key national relics protection unit in 1988.
