Top political advisor calls for stronger Beijing and Singapore relations

China's top political advisor Wang Huning highlighted on Friday the need for Beijing and Singapore to keep up high-level exchanges, strengthen strategic dialogue, enhance political mutual trust and deepen high-quality cooperation.
During talks with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Wang urged the two sides to jointly promote the steady and long-term growth of bilateral relations and promote more inclusive and resilient global development.
Wang, chairman of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, noted that China and Singapore have both found a path of democracy that suits themselves and are with their own national characteristics.
The CPPCC National Committee stands ready to enhance exchanges with the Singaporean side over national governance and contributions to the enriching of the political civilization of mankind, and carrying forward the shared values of all people, he said.
Lee reaffirmed the commitment from Singapore in adhering to the one-China policy, saying that he looked forward to the substantial improvement in bilateral relations and continuous deepening of cooperation in various sectors.
