Freshippo, the grocery and fresh goods retail chain under Alibaba Group, announced on Wednesday that it will collaborate with 13 global retailers, brands, associations, and consulting firms to procure high-quality overseas products for Chinese consumers.
Since the beginning of this year, Freshippo has inked cooperation agreements with 33 overseas retailers around the world. A week ago, the company signed trade agreements to import $1 billion worth of products from six countries related to the Belt and Road Initiative - Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Cyprus, Russia and Italy.
"The goal is to meet Chinese consumers demand for a better life with the best products, the lowest cost, through the state-of-the-art technology, and via the most optimized supply chain," said Hou Yi, CEO of Freshippo.
Freshippo also announced on Wednesday that it will establish eight procurement centers across the world that will widen its access to high-quality products.
