chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2023-06-15 08:56

More than 1 million cars were stolen in 2022, averaging about two stolen every minute, the highest number since 2008, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB).

A CBS News investigation revealed that a large number of stolen vehicles were concealed in shipping containers and smuggled to Mexico through major US border ports. The US government is concerned about car thefts in the US that are tied to Mexican cartels.
