US to rejoin UNESCO to compete with China

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) announced Monday that the US plans to rejoin it in July. The US decided to return to UNESCO because of concerns that China is filling a gap left by the US in the organization's decision-making, particularly in setting standards for artificial intelligence and technology education worldwide, the AP reported Monday, citing US officials.
