Yunnan cracks down on over 300 drug-related cases
The General Station of Frontier Inspection in the southwestern province of Yunnan has cracked down on 307 drug-related criminal cases, arresting 421 suspects and confiscating 4.7 metric tons of drugs and 703.48 tons of drug-making articles this year as of June 25.
Yunnan, which borders the "Golden Triangle", an area infamous for drug production and trafficking, has long been at the forefront of China's battle against narcotics.
"We have increased targeted inspections of transportation arteries, key areas and border crossings, as well as courier and logistics industries, to prevent drugs from flowing into the country," said Xu Li, head of the general station.
In Yunnan's border areas, people are benefiting from improved border management as well as stable and healthy economic development.
