Shang Dynasty relics unearthed in Guangzhou
Many cultural relics of the Shang Dynasty (c.16th century-11th century BC) were recently unearthed in the Huangpu district of eastern Guangzhou, Guangdong province.
A statement released by the Guangzhou Municipal Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology, said that three consecutive phases of archaeological excavation work were carried out on the Zhuyuanling site, with an excavation area of 13,500 square meters, during the past 12 months.
And archaeological exploration and excavation confirmed the distribution area of the Shang historical remains at the Zhuyuanling site totaled about 80,000 square meters, with its core area coming to about 15,000 square meters, the statement said.
It is now the largest group of Shang historical remains confirmed by archaeologists in the Pearl River Delta region.
