Portugal's president hospitalized

LISBON - Portugal's President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa was hospitalized with sudden medical problems on Wednesday afternoon, an official statement by the Presidency of the Republic has confirmed.

The exact nature of his condition has not been disclosed.

The statement said that adequate medical care is being provided, and further updates will be issued in due course.
