The Dream is owned by a private company, Tianjin Orient INTL Cruise, and heralds a new chapter in the international cruise business in China, according to local news portal app Jinyun.
The ship has more than 1,000 cabins and a capacity of around 2,000 passengers.
From June 2010 to the end of January 2020, 20 international cruise ships from 10 well-known domestic and foreign companies — including Royal Caribbean, Costa and MSC — have operated on the Tianjin home port route.
During the period, Tianjin received a total of 872 international cruise ships and more than 4.26 million inbound and outbound passengers, ranking first in the North China cruise market and second in the country.
