Neta, a brand owned by Chinese EV startup Hozon, is planning to introduce its models into Indonesia, with sales expected to start in the fourth quarter this year.

It is showcasing three models at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show that runs from August 10 to 20, which marks its entry into the Southeast Asian country with a population of over 200 million.

"We hope that NETA will be well received and can synergize with a good vision and mission in Indonesia," said Wang Chengjie, president director of Neta Auto Indonesia.

"As a first step, the Indonesian people can pre-order during GIIAS 2023 for electric vehicles that can support the lifestyle mobility of the Indonesian people," said Wang.

Neta partnered with PT Handal Indonesia Motor late last month to assemble complete knock-downs and bodies in paint starting from the second quarter of 2024.

The Chinese brand started to explore overseas markets in 2022. Now its models are available in a number of countries across the globe, mainly in Southeast Asia, South America and the Middle East.

Statistics show that its overseas sales in the first half totaled over 8,000 units. Besides its localization plan in Indonesia, Neta has kicked off construction on a plant in Thailand, which has a designated annual production capacity of 20,000 vehicles and is due to start operating early next year.
