Meeting highlights success of rural revitalization project in Nagchu city

The results of a research project were released during a meeting held on Tuesday in Lhasa, capital of the Tibet autonomous region, focusing on the theme of rural revitalization in Nagchu city.

Under the guidance of China Daily, the meeting was co-organized by the Nagchu city government and 21st Century, which is affiliated with China Daily. The meeting was attended by nearly 100 representatives, including officials from China Daily, the Nagchu city government, the Nagchu City Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, teachers from relevant universities, and representatives from enterprises.

During the meeting, a research report on rural revitalization in Nagchu city in 2023, along with a trailer for a documentary series related to the activity, were released.

Zhou Qingke, head of Nagchu's publicity department, highlighted the activity's efforts in stimulating innovation in mass work through guiding people's hearts, encouraging people's wisdom, improving individual wealth, and strengthening the cohesion of the system.

"It aims to inspire people of all ethnic groups in the city to work hard, and we hope that this research can further summarize experiences, test effectiveness, expand publicity, enhance impact, and promote the deepening and implementation of operating the activity in Nagchu," said Zhou.

Zeng Qingkai, editor-in-chief of 21st Century English Education Media of China Daily, said China Daily has been closely working with the Nagchu city government and with well-known universities to conduct in-depth research in the area of rural revitalization.

"Next, we will continue to focus on the development of Nagchu and to seek more good stories that exemplify Chinese-characterized modernization in this city," said Zeng.

During the release of the research report, Wang Lei, deputy editor-in-chief of the 21st Century English Education Media of China Daily, gave a presentation on the progress and results of the research.

Wang highlighted that Nagchu, as the prefecture-level city with the largest land area and highest altitude in China, served as the research activity's focal point. The research covered 13 townships within eight counties and districts of Nagchu and spanned a duration of eight days.

"According to the report, thanks to the research, significant achievements have been achieved in grassroots construction, ethnic unity, cultural tourism, industrial transformation, traditional excavation, youth development, and other aspects," said Wang Lei.

"The research activities have extensively mobilized and attracted the participation of the masses, and it has integrated ideological and cultural development with economic development," said Wang.

"It can be a new model for rural revitalization and development in border areas," she added.
