All the giant pandas in Washington — the parents who arrived in 2000 and their 3-year-old son — are scheduled to leave for China by December, leaving a trail of fond memories for the National Zoo keepers and patrons, who said they expect more such bears will arrive in the future.
While announcing the departure news on Monday, the Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute threw a "sweet" birthday party for Xiao Qi Ji, or "Little Miracle", treating him with a multitiered cake and a "3" topper using frozen diluted apple and pineapple juices.
