A symposium on the Sino-British documentary series In the Footsteps of Macro Polo was held in London on Tuesday, with nearly 60 attendees from the Chinese and British cultural and media sectors present.

Based on the 13th century expedition of the Italian merchant Macro Polo, Stanley Johnson and his son Max follow in Polo's footsteps.

Traveling the breadth of China from its northwestern region to Beijing, the two protagonists, the father and brother of former UK prime minister Boris Johnson, experience the splendid landscapes, the extraordinary developments, and profound history of places along the road.

The series is a combined effort of China Central Television Documentary International Media, a subsidiary of China International Television Corporation, or CITVC, and the British One Tribe TV.

Tang Shiding, president of CITVC, said the power of the documentary lies in its ability to subtly dispel biases, thus the journey today serves as a great opportunity for the East and West to deepen comprehension, echoing what Polo did thousands of years ago.

"As we stand on the new Silk Road and reflect on our illustrious history, we can confidently anticipate that, with robust people-to-people connectivity, we will usher in an even more glorious future," Tang said.
