A man in Shanwei in eastern Guangdong province rented 12 trucks to guard his restaurant against typhoon Saola, which became an internet sensation.

His restaurant did not incur any loss from Saola, according to Southern Metropolis Daily.

There is a lot of glass in the walls and the tall and sturdy trucks can protect the restaurant from the typhoon, said the restaurant owner who was identified by his surname Lin.

Lin even loaded mud onto the trucks to fortify them, which he rented from his friend on Wednesday. Super typhoon Saola whipped up a rainstorm in Shanwei and made landfall in Zhuhai, Guangdong early Saturday morning.

The truck fortress cost Lin more than 20,000 yuan ($2,754).

Lin also saved his restaurant with 12 trucks during the previous typhoon Doksuri in August. He said he would do the same before next typhoon hits.

With Saola moving westward along the coast of Guangdong, Lin is returning the trucks and plans to reopen the restaurant on Sunday, with food materials transport running as normal.
