International rope rescue teams compete in Chongqing

More than 20 professional rescue teams comprising firefighters and rope rescue experts from Belgium, Japan and across China competed in the 2023 Jinfo Mountain LifeLine International Rope Rescue Invitational Tournament, held in Chongqing's Nanchuan district on Friday. He noted that Jinfo Mountain — located in a typical karst landform area with mountains, valleys, rock faces, forests and bridges — can simulate different rescue scenarios.

On Friday, the competitors worked in pairs to compete in a rope-climbing competition. They climbed a rope hung from a nearly 100-meter bridge. Over two days, nine simulated rescue missions for city skyscrapers and in the wild were carried out.

The tournament, launched in 2018, is said to be China's first professional international rope rescue competition.
