The China-Rio de Janeiro Friendship Day was jointly hosted by the Consulate General of China in Rio de Janeiro and the Rio de Janeiro State Council on August 15, 2023.

The highlights of the event were a dance performance and an ensemble of traditional instruments that showcased the fusion of Chinese and Brazilian artistic genres. Maria, a 21-year-old Brazilian, danced along with her Chinese dancing partners, infusing vibrant spirits of samba into the authentic yangge dance (a Chinese folk dance). The harmonious blend of Western instruments such as flute, clarinet, saxophone, and the Chinese erhu also created a delightful auditory experience. As Luiz Potter, the conductor of the Orchestra of the Copacabana Fort, remarked, "We listen to the unique qualities of each other's instruments, and different musical languages are intertwined, creating something truly moving."
