Intangible cultural heritage promotes rural revitalization in Dongying
Local intangible cultural heritage has become a spotlight in rural revitalization, with several cultural and tourism projects flourishing in Dongying, East China's Shandong province.
In Dongji township, Kenli district of Dongying, 140 sets of old houses are poised for renovation and upgrades in two phases, creating a comprehensive rural tourism destination called Yangmiao Huangheli while preserving the original countryside charm. On Sept 28, the project initiated its trial operation and is expected to directly generate over 200 job opportunities, with a spillover effect benefiting more than 500 people in employment. This will increase the per capita annual income by over 3,000 yuan ($411).
In Lijin county of Dongying, an old street takes intangible cultural heritage as its pillar, setting the benchmark for cultural tourism in the Yellow River Basin. Tourists can immerse themselves in unique local culture and traditions through cultural performances, traditional folklore, and savoring local cuisine. The street has benefited more than 2,000 people in the surrounding areas, significantly boosting their incomes.
