Live drum concert from Hong Kong breaks time boundary with 5G technology
During the concert and at a parade held before that, there were also performances by drummers recognized as China's intangible cultural heritage from including the Yan'an City An'sai Waist Drum Troupe from Shaanxi province, the Chengnan Zhongjing Yingge team from Shantou, Guangdong province, and the Shanxi Jiangzhou Drum Troupe.
John Lee Ka-chiu, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, addressed the audience via a video link. He hoped the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra's performances will continue to bring musical feasts to the SAR, the Chinese mainland and the world, and promote mutual learning among Chinese and other civilizations, and to tell China and Hong Kong stories, all with Chinese music and arts rich in Chinese cultural heritage.
Lee said the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra has been performing in the city for almost half a century, and has been playing the role of the SAR's cultural ambassador by being invited to perform around the globe.
