On Oct 26, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security mentioned at a news conference that it would arrange the job-seeking events for 2024 graduates early.

Data show that the number of college graduates has reached a record high of 11.58 million this year, and whether they can find jobs is related to the overall stability of society.

Fresh graduates lack work experience, and that makes them less competitive in the job market. As they usually lack personal savings, they may easily fall into difficulties if they cannot find a job after graduation.

It is therefore important to introduce special policies to support the employment of college graduates. The authorities can extend the window for their job search and grant graduates the buffer of more time.

Besides, targeted recruitment can also be carried out for registered unemployed young people and unemployed graduates, while labor skills training, entrepreneurship training and other training programs can also help improve their attractiveness to employers in the labor market.

The ultimate solution lies on the demand side of the employers. This requires strengthening support for small and medium-sized enterprises and the private economy, so that they can fully play the role of major job creators.

It's also noteworthy that both short-term service measures and long-term measures need to be taken to resolve the employment problem of college graduates.

For example, universities should stay abreast of what skills employers are looking for, and improve the relevance of their courses accordingly to enhance graduates' competitiveness. That will require higher-level coordination and greater efforts from all parties.
