On Monday, more than 70 delegates attended the 24th Inter-Islands Tourism Policy Forum (ITOP), which was held in Haikou, South China's Hainan province, to discuss island tourism development trends and share successful cases and experience.
The forum, under the theme of "Green Tourism: Government in Action", aims to promote the sustainable development of island regions, strengthen the protection of natural and urban environments, and deepen exchanges and cooperation among island regions.
As a world-renowned tropical island tourism destination, Hainan regards a sound ecological environment as the strongest advantage and the biggest capital for development, according to Liu Xiaoming, governor of Hainan province.
"We pay attention to forming green and low-carbon tourism, making the beauty of ecology a tourist scene, and bringing out the best of the development of tourism and environmental protection together," he said.
