KIEV -- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday replaced the secretary of the country's National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), the government-run Ukrinform news agency reported.

Zelensky signed the decrees to dismiss Oleksiy Danilov and appoint Oleksandr Lytvynenko as the new head of the agency.

Lytvynenko, 51, had previously served as the head of Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service.

Danilov was appointed the head of the NSDC on Oct 3, 2019.
