AIIB chief economist: China to maintain its key role in global growth

China's economy is resilient and has great potential despite facing short-term challenges, and it is a major contributor to global economic growth, the chief economist of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank said.
According to Erik Berglof, chief economist of the AIIB, China "has been and will remain an important contributor to global growth in the foreseeable future".
"There is a huge potential in the Chinese economy," Berglof recently told China Daily in an exclusive interview. "China graduates around 1.5 million engineers every year. There's a lot of potential for technological development, more productivity and more economic growth."
