China saw more than 1.3 billion trips during 5-day May Day holiday, which concluded on Sunday, the Ministry of Transport said on Monday.

It was an average of 271.69 million trips everyday, an increase of 23.7 percent compared to the same period in 2019 - before the COVID-19 pandemic, and a year-on-year increase of 2.1 percent.

Among all the trips, the railway network handled 91.77 million trips and the civil aviation sector saw 9.97 million trips.

The robust travel during the holiday has been notable across various transportation modes, showcasing a significant surge in cross regional people movement.
