At the recently concluded 16th China International Battery Fair (CIBF 2024), a series of new semi-solid batteries were unveiled to the public for the first time, marking a significant breakthrough in the sector.

Shenzhen-based BAK Power Battery Co Ltd, the developer of the semi-solid batteries, said its products not only excel in terms of capacity, size, cycle life and safety, but also possess broad application prospects.

The BAK Battery said the batteries on display all incorporate both polymer and oxide, with an energy density of more than 350 Wh/kg and an electrolyte proportion of ten percent or less.

Among the new products, the 30 Ah batteries were specially designed for electric motorcycles and offer 3C charge/discharge rates, while the 60Ah and 100Ah electric vehicle batteries can maintain over 80 percent of capacity even after 1,500 weeks of cyclic use.

Devoted to the solid-state battery industry, BAK Battery said its first-generation semi-solid batteries are already in mass production and have significantly contributed to the safety of digital devices, while the new products showcased at the CIBF 2024 are expected to be mass-produced in the next three to four years.

In addition, the company said it will continue to increase investment in battery research and development. Efforts will be made to develop products targeting emerging sectors such as commercial and consumer drones, two-wheelers, and energy storage, thereby further promoting China's energy transition and sustainable development.
