Chinese pop sensation, Shuimu Nianhua, marked their highly anticipated comeback after a hiatus with a concert at the National Indoor Stadium in Beijing on May 25. The group not only treated fans to nostalgic hits but also introduced a new member, Yu Sheng, heralding an exciting new chapter for the beloved group.
Founded in 2001 by singer-songwriter Lu Gengxu, a Tsinghua University graduate, Shuimu Nianhua derives its name from the university's nickname shuimu and nianhua, symbolizing the "best years" of their lives. Their debut album, Yisheng You Ni (Life With You), resonated deeply with audiences, featuring original songs that captured the essence of student life and youth.
Over the years, Lu and fellow Tsinghua University alumna Miao Jie captivated audiences nationwide as Shuimu Nianhua, performing at prestigious events and national galas. In 2021, the group welcomed Tsinghua University alumni Chen Qiuhua, followed by the latest addition of Yu, further enriching their musical ensemble.
At the Beijing concert, Shuimu Nianhua unveiled a new song, Becoming A Star, penned by Yu, showcasing the group's evolution and creativity. The concert in Beijing serves as the kickoff for Shuimu Nianhua's 2024 tour across China, with upcoming performances in cities such as Nanjing, Chengdu, and Shanghai, promising fans an unforgettable musical experience and a glimpse into the group's exciting new chapter.
