China will implement export controls on specific molds, equipment, software and technologies in the aerospace and maritime sectors, as well as items related to ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber, the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.

This policy will officially take effect on July 1, according to an online statement released by the ministry.

Implementing export controls on specific molds and special fiber materials is a common international practice. China, drawing on international practices and considering its own needs, is enacting these controls to better safeguard national security and fulfill international non-proliferation obligations, said a spokesperson from the ministry.

The official said this policy is not targeted at any specific country or region. Exports that meet the relevant regulations will be granted permission.
