Beijing People's Art Theater marks 72nd anniversary

On Wednesday, the Beijing People's Art Theatre commemorated its 72nd anniversary with a 12-hour extravaganza held both at the theater and online. The celebration kicked off at 10 am at the Capital Theater, the esteemed home of the Beijing People's Art Theatre, where a gathering of artists spanning different generations, such as Feng Yuanzheng, Wu Gang, and Ding Zhicheng, engaged in discussions with the younger talents of the company.
Throughout the afternoon, the budding actors and actresses of the company showcased excerpts from timeless Chinese plays, captivating the audience with their performances and engaging in interactive sessions. Attendees were also granted the opportunity to explore the rehearsal spaces and museums within the Beijing People's Art Theatre premises.
Established in 1952 and situated a brief stroll away from the vibrant Wangfujing pedestrian shopping street, the Beijing People's Art Theatre stands as a bastion of Chinese drama, renowned for nurturing numerous acclaimed actors and actresses while upholding a legacy of excellence and dedication.
Feng, a seasoned actor-director and the current president of the Beijing People's Art Theatre, highlighted the pivotal juncture the company is undergoing, with senior artists transitioning into retirement and fresh talents joining the ranks. "We are dedicated to providing platforms for young actors and directors to inherit and embody the ethos of the Beijing People's Art Theatre," Feng said.
