Law enforcement authorities in Myanmar recently handed over 150 Chinese suspected to be involved in cross-border telecom fraud, including 14 fugitives, to China, said the Ministry of Public Security on Tuesday.

The ministry said it has strengthened law enforcement cooperation with relevant Myanmar authorities to further advance the special operation to combat telecom fraud. They recently dismantled 10 telecom fraud dens in Tachileik District of Shan State in Myanmar and captured the suspects.

The suspects have been escorted back by police from Guizhou province for further investigations.

Since last year, the ministry and Myanmar's law enforcement agencies have conducted a series of joint operations, with about 49,000 Chinese suspects involved in fraud successfully arrested and handed over to China. Due to the crackdown, some fraudsters have dispersed to areas such as Tachileik, it said.

An officer from the ministry stated that they will continue to strengthen law enforcement cooperation, increase efforts to combat fraud, eradicate fraud dens, and arrest suspects, effectively curbing the high incidence of cross-border telecom fraud.
