National immigration authorities seized 4.5 tons of various types of drugs from the beginning of this year to June 24, effectively blocking the entry and circulation of foreign drugs into China, the National Immigration Administration announced on Tuesday.
They uncovered 284 drug-related cases involving 381 individuals at borders and ports across the country. Among these cases, there were 59 instances involving over one kilogram of drugs.
An official from the NIA stated that immigration authorities will continue to conduct in-depth analysis of drug trafficking methods, drug-related groups, transportation channels and evasion tactics. They will dynamically adjust the deployment of checkpoints to strengthen border inspections networks.
Besides, the authorities will advance the investigation of major cases through methods such as supervising major cases, conducting collaborative operations among different departments and enhancing border law enforcement coordination to fight drug-related crimes.
