The Weifang Bohai International Communication Center was launched in Weifang, Shandong province, on June 26, with the joint support of local governments and China Daily, aiming to enhance the city's global visibility.

The center will serve as an international communication platform that focuses on telling China's story through local practices and showcasing China's image to the world, said Liu Yun, secretary of the CPC Weifang Municipal Committee. It will also help connect Weifang with the outside world, Liu added.

Liu Weiling, deputy editor-in-chief of China Daily, highlighted during her speech that China Daily will leverage the establishment of the center to deepen cooperation with Weifang in international communication.

She emphasized that more efforts will be made to enhance Weifang's international image as a dynamic city, showcasing its charm and vitality worldwide. This will be achieved by exploring local resources, employing innovative narrative techniques, and utilizing diverse communication methods, she added.

During the inauguration ceremony, a strategic cooperation framework agreement was signed between the Publicity Department of the CPC Weifang Municipal Committee and the Business Development Department of China Daily to support the construction and development of the Weifang Bohai International Communication Center.

A new program titled AI Broadcast: Weifang Weekly Insights was also launched as a collaborative project between China Daily and Weifang to promote the city's charms by utilizing cutting-edge AI technologies. It utilizes the actual likeness of Douglas Dueno, a US expert at China Daily Website, integrating AI virtual human video generation technologies.
