Installed power generation capacity surges 14.1%

China's installed power generation capacity surged 14.1 percent year-on-year to 3.04 billion kilowatts by the end of May, according to the latest figures released by the National Energy Administration on Friday.

The installed capacity of solar power soared 52.2 percent year-on-year to 690 million kilowatts, while wind power rose 20.5 percent to about 460 million kilowatts, it said.

Major power generation enterprises nationwide completed investment in power projects amounting to 257.8 billion yuan ($35.47 billion) during the first four months this year, up 6.5 percent year-on-year, while that of power grid projects amounted to 170.3 billion yuan, up 21.6 percent year-on-year.
