Pingjiang county in Hunan province has asked for public donations after being hit with unprecedented flooding on Monday.
The county raised its flood response to the highest level on Monday night. A notice issued by the county's headquarters for flood and drought prevention on Tuesday said the damage and affected areas are unprecedented, with most parts of the county being flooded.
There have been multiple landslides, and roads and crops have been heavily damaged, the notice said.
It called on the public and friends from all sectors to lend a helping hand and donate money and goods to overcome the difficulties together.
According to local government figures, the flood has affected more than 364,000 people and damaged more than 2,600 sections of roads and bridges.
As of 4:51 am on Wednesday, the local river's water level had dropped to 70.49 meters, which is below the warning level. Later in the day, the county adjusted the flood response level to the second highest.
