Post-disaster reconstruction efforts underway in Zhashui county
The local government in Zhashui county of Shangluo, Shaanxi province, has mobilized efforts to conduct post-disaster reconstruction and rescue operations. Severe rainfall has wreaked havoc in the county since mid-July, causing extensive damage to infrastructure.
On July 19, heavy rainfall caused flooding, mudslides, slope collapses and damage along major roads.
According to Zhao Peng, the head of the maintenance department of Shangluo's public road administration, initial assessments revealed significant damage to key national and provincial highways in Zhashui. Roadbed gaps were found in 149 locations. Among them, 42 sections had their road surface completely destroyed, totaling 15 kilometers of damage.
As of 5:30 pm on Monday, most affected road sections have been reopened, said Zhao.
He added that the affected areas had received relief supplies such as rice, noodles, oil and bottled water.
Meanwhile, local power repair personnel managed to reach damaged areas and restore the power supply.
Tang Kaicheng, general manager of the State Grid Zhashui Power Supply Company, reported that the areas have been restored to normal power supply.
