With an admission letter from Tsinghua University in bag, Yang Yun, who has been a postman for 21 years, was overjoyed to deliver it to the recipient in Tongliang district of Chongqing — his daughter.

"Congratulations to my daughter! Here is your admission letter from Tsinghua University. Please sign for it!" Yang Yun said, handing Tongliang district's first admission letter from Tsinghua University this year to his daughter Yang Yu on July 27.

Among the countless mail that Yang Yun delivered, the delivery of this admission letter was the happiest moment in his postman career.

Raised in a common family, Yang Yu overcame challenges and worked diligently to become a new undergraduate in one of the top universities in China.

Yang Yu was born and raised in a small town, with her postman father and supermarket salesperson mother busy at work all day long. In Yang Yu's childhood memory, her father was a superhero who undertook the delivery work of the whole town. During the summer vacation, Yang Yu used to help her father at work.

In order to create a better studying environment for Yang Yu when she went to middle school, her family decided to move to a county. Yang Yu could not catch up with the new classmates initially, but her family encouraged her to study hard and make progress naturally. With her perseverance and support from family, Yang Yu gradually gained better results at school.

In her second year at the middle school, Yang Yu's teacher gave her a badge from Tsinghua University. The badge evoked her admiration for this top-class university in China. In July 2023, Yang Yu participated in Tsinghua University's summer school. This visit to her dream school strengthened her determination.

In her last year in senior high school, the upcoming national college entrance examination, or gaokao, increased the pressure on her studies. However, with her teachers' encouragement and her family's company, the pressure didn't defeat her. Yang Yu worked so hard that she even recited English words on the way to school. Yang Yu improved herself bit by bit and finally achieved her dream.

Yang Yu will be a new student in the Zhishan College of Tsinghua University this autumn. She is looking forward to experiencing the charm of sciences overlapping with arts, broadening her horizons and finding her academic study direction in college life.
